A quick google map search and I realized, not only is the composting drop not far from the crib, but I’ve driven past this place without realizing what it was, literally thousands of times.
Batch #1 | 5 lbs 7.5 oz
My first batch turned out to be much bigger than anticipated. The lady threw out some tomatoes that she says were ‘bad’. Let’s just say, that after seeing them in the bag, I would have certainly cut those bad boys up and put ‘em in my egg scramble. Add the orange and banana peels, broccoli ends and half a bag of mixed greens that went bad (because who really wants to eat salad) we accumulated a pretty large batch of compostable waste. At this rate, I expect to donate 200 pounds of dirt to the community garden. Probably more. Probably my body weight to be honest! We’ll see how much it actually turns out to be.
I don’t think my little 5 pound bag of table scraps is going to keep the ice caps from melting. But, I’m sure it can’t hurt. And it didn’t take any effort. So well worth it. Certainly better than talking about doing something, and not – which is what I’ve done up until now.
